The 2009 Ogden Tigers have seemingly erased the past 34 years of football mediocrity, after cruising to a 47 - 21 win over Judge Memorial, and a 35 - 7 victory over Stansbury Friday night. For the first time since 1975, the Tigers are 3-0 and show no signs of slowing. If the Tigers can retain their momentum and earn a win in the Iron Horse game next week, they will be 4-0 for the first time since the last year they won a state championship.....1966. That's right, 1966. 43 years of being the perverbial wallflower, will surely be over if the season continues at this rate.
Homecoming recap - vs. Stansbury
Alfonso Perea has arrived, and showed up in a big way for the Tigers Friday night. Early in the fourth quarter after the stallions cut the tiger lead to 13-7, Perea took the Kick return 80 yards untouched for the first score of his football career. The score sparked Perea's natual swagger, as he continued to make big plays the rest of the night. After the defense held the stallion offense to a 3 and out, Shawn Muniz took the punt return all the way to the 11 yard line when Perea threw a block on two stallions to spring Muniz up the sideline. Nik Allred was also solid for the tigers all night, throwing for 3 scores and running in another.
